North By Midwest Micro-Budget Film Festival

Great Films from the Great Lakes!

Kalamazoo, Michigan: Public Media Network of Kalamazoo, Michigan is proud to announce the North By Midwest Micro-Budget Film Festival. Small-budget filmmakers are invited to submit their films in five categories: Long Feature, Short Feature, Short Documentary/Profile, Animation and MicroCam. Entries are now being accepted through February 20, 2015. More information can be found at nxmwfilm.org or by calling (269) 343-2211.

The North By Midwest Micro-Budget Film Festival (NxMW) honors video and film creators that are able to produce a large-scale project on a shoestring budget. “Public Media Network is excited to coordinate and host this film festival. We look forward to enjoying and recognizing the work of talented filmmakers using limited resources,” states Hap Haasch, Executive Director of the Public Media Network.

  • Micro-Budget means that your budget must be equal or less than $10,000 for Long Features and $5,000 for other categories (not including equipment costs).
  • Prizes in each category include:
    1st Place, $1,000; 2nd Place, $500; 3rd Place, $100
  • A Festival Screening will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2015 in the Epic Center, in downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan. More details to come.

An-all new category is MicroCam. MicroCam is 100% shot on your small device – iPhone, Android Phone, iPad, Tablet, GoPro (excluding DSLR cameras). You can edit on your non-linear software of choice – as long as it is under 5 minutes. We’re looking for that viral video that is well composed, has good audio, and has taken your hard work to produce. Does this sound like you? Take a shot at it!
